Семен Фішелевич Глузман (10.09.1946–16.02.2026)
З глибоким сумом повідомляємо про смерть Семена Фішелевича Глузмана — видатного українського психіатра, правозахисника, колишнього дисидента і політв’язеня, мислителя й людини незламної гідності.
Президент Асоціації психіатрів України (1991-2023 рр.), директор Українсько-американського бюро захисту прав людини від 1990 р., член Американського товариства психіатрів від 1979 р., член Королівського коледжу психіатрів Великої Британії з 1980 р., член Канадської психіатричної асоціації з 1981 р., Товариства психіатрів і неврологів Німеччини, співголова Комітету «Бабин Яр» (разом із Мирославом Поповичем,Іваном Дзюбою).
За його життя в 1977р. його іменем названа французька клініка Сен-Дені фр. CAC Saint-Denis "Sémion Gluzman", Centre de sante semion gluzman clinique psychiatrique à st denis. Один із авторів Закону України «Про психіатричну допомогу». 1978 р. був оголошений роком Семена Глузмана від «Amnesty International». У 1998—1999 рр. експерт Організації Об'єднаних Націй з прав людини. Лауреат премії «Людина року — 1999» як «правозахисник року»
У роки незалежності України Семен Глузман став одним із моральних авторитетів у сфері психіатрії та правозахисної діяльності. Виступав за реформування системи психіатричної допомоги, захист прав пацієнтів і подолання стигми щодо психічних розладів. Його «незручна правда» завжди була голосом совісті — прямим, аргументованим, безкомпромісним щодо несправедливості.
Для колег, учнів і друзів він назавжди залишиться прикладом професійної честі та громадянської відповідальності. Для українського суспільства — символом спротиву зловживанням, доказом того, що навіть у найтемніші часи можна зберегти внутрішню свободу.
Світла пам’ять про Семена Фішелевича Глузмана житиме в його справах, у його книгах і публічних виступах, у тисячах людей, для яких він став учителем, другом і моральним орієнтиром.
Висловлюємо щирі співчуття рідним, близьким, колегам і всім, хто знав і поважав Семена Фішелевича.

Semyon Gluzman (10 September 1946 – 16 February 2026)
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Semyon Gluzman, an outstanding Ukrainian psychiatrist, human rights defender, former dissident and political prisoner, thinker, and a person of unbreakable dignity.
President of the Association of Psychiatrists of Ukraine (1991–2023), Director of the Ukrainian-American Bureau for Human Rights Protection since 1990, member of the American Psychiatric Association since 1979, member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists of Great Britain since 1980, member of the Canadian Psychiatric Association since 1981, member of the German Society of Psychiatrists and Neurologists, and co-chair of the Babyn Yar Committee (together with Myroslav Popovych and Ivan Dziuba).
During his lifetime, in 1977, a French clinic in Saint-Denis was named in his honor (CAC Saint-Denis “Sémion Gluzman,” Centre de santé Sémion Gluzman, psychiatric clinic in Saint-Denis). He was one of the authors of the Law of Ukraine “On Psychiatric Care.” In 1978, he was honored by Amnesty International, which declared that year the Year of Semyon Gluzman. In 1998-1999, he served as a United Nations human rights expert. Laureate of the “Person of the Year - 1999” award as “Human Rights Defender of the Year.”
During the years of Ukraine’s independence, Semyon Gluzman became one of the moral authorities in psychiatry and human rights advocacy. He advocated for reform of the psychiatric care system, protection of patients’ rights, and overcoming stigma surrounding mental disorders. His “uncomfortable truth” was always a voice of conscience - direct, reasoned, and uncompromising in the face of injustice.
For colleagues, students, and friends, he will forever remain an example of professional honor and civic responsibility. For Ukrainian society - a symbol of resistance to abuse and proof that even in the darkest times one can preserve inner freedom.
The bright memory of Semyon Gluzman will live on in his deeds, his books and public speeches, and in the thousands of people for whom he became a teacher, friend, and moral guide.
We express our sincere condolences to his family, loved ones, colleagues, and all who knew and respected him.
